Learning at College

'I'm Khadija Imadanyen. I arrived in Edinburgh in February 2004. I started an intensive beginner's course in ESOL in April 2004. In 2004/2005 I attended a mixed level class in a CbESOL (Community-based ESOL) course organized by Stevenson College at W.H.E.C. (Wester Hailes Education Centre) and in the end I achieved 3 ESOL Units at Intermediate 1.

In 2005/2006 I continued in the same class and worked at the next level to achieve 3 ESOL Units at Intermediate 2. That helped me gain confidence and improved my education further. I have now qualifications I didn't have before and I can demonstrate that my level of English has improved tremendously.

That didn't go unnoticed as Stevenson College encouraged me by offering me an award at their Award Ceremony.

During the Christmas break 2006/2007 I worked for the Royal Mail. I also volunteered as a visitor at an elderly people's home.

I'm still studying to improve myself as I would like to get a place on a NC Social Care Course in Sept 2007. I will have been in Edinburgh 3 years. Amazing!'
