  • develop practical skills
  • develop communication skills

Summary of Unit content:

Assessment Approaches

Assessment in this Course is based on a range of methods including a candidate folio and practical activities. Performance evidence will be supported by assessor observation checklists and candidate reviews. Candidates will be required to carry out self evaluation on a range of skills, review progress and identify action points as part of the assessment of employability skills.

Each Unit will be supported by a NAB (National Assessment Bank item) which will provide an assessment package and will exemplify the national standard.

Experience of the workplace

Centres are encouraged to develop links with employers and industry practitioners who may be able to offer support in terms of visiting speakers and arranging visits to workplaces. Such visits will be helpful when investigating the different job roles within sectors and will provide candidates with a realistic view of job roles, responsibilities and working conditions within the Creative Industries.

It should, however, be remembered that many practitioners in the creative industries work on a freelance basis with networks of other freelancers from other disciplines. It is therefore advisable to visit more than one practitioner or workplace, where possible.

Resource Requirements

Since practical and experiential learning is central to this Course, it is important that candidates have access to a variety of learning environments. This could include access to industries through visits, simulated workplace settings or visiting speakers from industries and/or services. This could be achieved through appropriate partnership agreements.
