Construction Site Management

The Diploma in Construction Site Management at QCF level 6 will develop knowledge and skills in site management within the construction industry, including areas such as Managing Projects,  Personnel and Health, Safety and Welfare.

Candidates will undertake core Units and will be able to specialise in one of the following pathways::

Why deliver this qualification

This qualification offers centres flexibility and choice because of the comprehensive range of optional Units across the different areas of Construction Site Management.

Many construction contractors and clients insist that all workers on site hold a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card to prove competence in their stated occupation and to show that they have relevant health and safety awareness.
Upon completion of this qualification candidates will be able to apply for a meet the CSCS black card.

This Diploma at QCF level 6 can be offered in any of the following modes:

  • full-time
  • part-time (eg day-release)
  • open and distance learning
  • infill into existing classes
  • evening provision

Who does this qualification suit

The Diploma in Construction Site Management at QCF level 6 is suitable for a wide range of candidates, aged 19 and over,  including:

  • adult returners to education
  • people already in employment in the construction industry who wish to enhance their career prospects
  • individuals who wish to start their own business in the construction industry.

It is likely to be of interest to candidates who are working in, or are keen to work in a management position on a construction site.

Access

As with all SQA qualifications, entry is at the discretion of the centre.

Different combinations of relevant qualifications may also be acceptable.

Progression

This qualification may allow progression to a construction site senior management role (e.g. as a Construction Site Manager).

It can also provide progression to further qualifications at degree level in a related discipline.

Approval

Centres will have to come forward for approval and should contact SQA’s Business Development Team for guidance.

Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA’s general requirements for technical/occupational competence as outlined in the Guide to Approval.

Ongoing course assessment will apply. Each Unit specification gives detailed information on the Evidence Requirements and approaches to assessment for the Unit.
