This National Progression Award (NPA) provides an overview of the esports industry with a focus on game performance and event management.
It develops knowledge and understanding of esports and prepares learners for further studies in this field.
This qualification is available through schools, colleges, and training providers.
NPAs can be taught over one year or as a part-time course over two years.

Assessment will be a combination of practical and knowledge assessments under closed- and open-book assessment conditions. See the assessment and evidence requirements for each unit.

Why study this qualification
The NPA in Esports is designed for a wide range of learners, including:
- learners who are at school or who have just left school
- college learners
- mature learners who have been out of education for a long period of time
You will develop a wide range of knowledge and skills, including:
- knowledge of the esports industry, including its history and organisation
- knowledge of the history of competitive video gaming and types of computer game
- knowledge of the hardware and software aspects of esports including PC configurations
- how to stay safe online
- game scoring systems and game strategies
- how to organise esports events
- how to stream esports events
- exploring contemporary issues relating to esports
You will also develop important Core Skills in ICT and Numeracy.
Access
Entry is at the discretion of the school, college, or training provider. However, it is recommended that you should first complete training at level 4 before entering level 5.
Employment and progression
You could use this level 5 award to progress to study NPA in Esports at SCQF level 6.
