We welcome the publication of our equalities schemes which provide a practical framework for the successful mainstreaming of equality at SQA. In developing and refreshing our schemes we have worked in partnership with staff, users, and stakeholders. We have focused on areas which we consider essential to achieving and promoting equalities.
While we realise the benefit of publishing individual schemes in line with our requirements to promote gender, race and disability equality we are taking a 6 stranded approach to our impact assessments and to our mainstreaming agenda which incorporates race, gender, disability, age, religion/ belief and sexual orientation. In the future, when we come to review our schemes and in light of ongoing equality law review, we may progress towards a single equality scheme.
Each of our three schemes contains an action plan which clearly outlines what we will be doing to ensure that gender, Race and Disability equality are mainstreamed. This work may also be relevant to the work that SQA is doing to ensure that we achieved equality based on race, gender, disability, age, religion/ belief and sexual orientation.
