Data Services Surgeries

SQA's Data Services provide support and guidance to all SQA approved centres through the Registration, Entries, Results and Certification processes. To encourage centres to use our service we are holding surgeries throughout Scotland in 2008.

The surgeries are designed to allow centres to allocate time with a Data Services team member.

We want to ensure our services are relevant to your needs. 

Examples of the information and guidance you could receive are:

• Process registrations, entries and results for candidates and assist centres with related queries
• Provide information and guidance on electronic systems i.e. SQA-REX, SQA-RED and SQA.net
• Provide information and guidance on the certification process
• Cover policy and procedure and how to create a good working practise with Data Services.

Each centre wishing to book a place will be allocated a half hour time slot where they will receive dedicated attention from a member of the Data Services Team. We ask centres who are booking a place to advise on the booking form what their requirements are to allow us to tailor the session more effectively.

Spaces are very limited therefore they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Confirmation letters will be sent to registered delegates approximately 1-2 weeks prior to each event - this will confirm the location of the event and the time you've been allocated to.

Our 2007 Customer Conference ' Connecting with SQA ' took place over two days - 14 and 15 June at the Radisson Hotel, Glasgow. We are pleased to offer you access to the workshop presentations.

Review of Estimates, Derived Grades and Assessment Appeals Events

As part of our commitment to work with teachers, lecturers and partners to enhance the understanding of standards, we hosted events in January and February for key teaching staff.

Specifically the events provided the opportunity to

• share with delegates SQA's research findings into the Review of Estimates, Derived Grades and Appeals
• provide opportunity for delegates to familiarise themselves with the updated guidance on Estimates, Absentees and Assessment Appeals
• provide the opportunity for delegates to clarify issues

The events were highly successful. Following requests from delegates we are now publishing the presentations and workshop materials used at these events.
