Progression in the Construction Sector with SQA

There are various routes to progress your career within construction with an assortment of routes you could take through the range of Qualification's SQA offers on the SCQF. There are routes between different occupational areas, allowing career progression and upskilling for individuals.

New National Progression Awards in Construction at SCQF level 5

SQA has validated ten new National Progression Awards (NPAs) in construction at SCQF level 5. The new group award codes are currently being allocated and each NPA will be worth 10 or 10.5 credits.

CSCS Green Card

From 1 July 2014 the green Construction Site Operative (CSO) card is no longer issued. There is a new green CSCS card only available for people working in labouring occupations.

SQA have two Knowledge Qualifications available - Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment at QCF level 1 and the SCQF equivalent Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment at SCQF level 4 both of which are accepted by CSCS as providing learners with the required knowledge to progress on to complete the assessment to gain the CSCS Green Card.
