The Diploma can be offered within a workplace environment. The evidence demonstrating achievement of the qualification can be assessed within a workplace environment or, where simulation is used, within a realistic working environment.

Who does this qualification suit

This Diploma is suitable for experienced water distribution operatives and new apprentices who will be able to take the qualification as part of the Water Industries Modern Apprenticeship.

Access

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, candidates are likely to be working on or have experience of working on a water distribution network. 

Progression

The Diploma in Water Distribution Control at SCQF level 5 could provide progression to other water-related qualifications at SCQF levels 5 and 6. Successful completion of the qualification could also open up more employment opportunities and career prospects in the sector.

Approval

Centres interested in offering this qualification require to come forward for approval and should contact SQA's Business Development Team for guidance.

Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA's general requirements for technical/occupational competence as outlined in the Systems and Qualification Approval Guide. The specific delivery requirements are set out in the Assessment Strategy.

How to assess

The Diploma is designed to be assessed in the workplace, or in conditions similar to the workplace. Assessment evidence will primarily be generated via workplace evidence. Each unit provides assessment evidence requirements and guidance on instruments of assessment.
