Appeals service
The Appeals Service is now closed.
We issued results of priority appeals to schools, colleges and training providers on Monday 1 September. You should contact your school, college or training provider to get your result.
We are planning to issue results of all other appeals to schools, colleges and training providers in October.
If your grade has changed as a result of an appeal, we will send you a new certificate in November.
Appeals decisions are final and you cannot appeal your grade again.
How did the appeals service work?
A senior marker carried out a marking review of your SQA-marked assessments. The senior marker reviewed your responses to all externally marked question papers and assignments. They checked that the marks awarded by the marker were in line with the marking standards agreed at the markers' briefing and the marking instructions.
They also checked that:
- all parts of your SQA-assessments had been marked
- the marks given for each answer had been totalled correctly
- the correct result had been entered on our system.
Please note that after being reviewed, your result could stay the same, go up or go down.
You can find out more about appeals in the Your Results booklet:

Roles and responsibilities
There is important information you need to read and understand in relation to appeals.
Appeals Service Roles and Responsibilities (133 KB) outlines the duties and tasks that SQA, schools, colleges, training providers, learners and local authorities must undertake pre and post certification. You can speak to your teacher or lecturer if you have any questions about the document or service.
