National Courses: guidance on evidence for estimates in session 2021-22
This guidance is a refreshed version of the previous estimate guidance following feedback from stakeholders. It explains what estimates are and gives examples of the types of assessment evidence needed to ensure a robust estimate. In addition, it includes links to further support such as:
- SQA Academy course on Quality Assurance of Estimates for National Courses
- Guide to Assessment
- Assessment Arrangements Explained: Information for Centres
The guidance also explains how estimate evidence will be used as the basis of generating provisional results and will help teachers and lecturers to ensure manageable and proportionate assessment approaches are in place, without the need for additional assessments, if exams are cancelled due to public health restrictions at the time of the exam diet.
If exams are cancelled, the evidence used for provisional results would also be subject to quality assurance. SQA will provide more information about this after further discussion with partners, including learner and parent/carer groups.
