Advisory Council meeting - everyone welcome!

Thursday 28 August 2025

Are you interested in the values that'll shape our new national qualifications body, Qualifications Scotland?

This September, an online meeting of the Advisory Council will be open to the public, giving anyone who wants to the chance to observe and learn more about its role, processes and our general work as we transition to Qualifications Scotland.

The Advisory Council is a unique partnership of education and skills stakeholders. It’s members – which include college, university, school, training, learner and parent representatives – provide valuable advice on matters relating to SQA’s qualifications, awards and functions.

The next online meeting takes place on Thursday 4 September, 10.15am – 12.45pm.

Whether or not you work in education, or are a parent/carer or learner, everyone is welcome to attend.

Key areas that the Advisory Council will discuss at the meeting are:

What is Qualifications Scotland?

Qualifications Scotland will replace SQA in December following the passing of the Education (Scotland) Bill and its Royal Assent, earlier this summer.

The Act specifies that Qualifications Scotland will have a Strategic Advisory Council and Learner and Teacher and Practitioner Interest Committees, ensuring they represent the interests of stakeholders, and give them a strong and meaningful voice.

In November we published our ambitious roadmap in our journey to Qualifications Scotland, A Prospectus for Change.
