Closer to the Classroom

Our School Partnership Team is transforming how we engage with teachers and putting learners at the centre of our decision making.

We’re committed to being closer to the classroom – ensuring teachers have a voice in shaping the future of qualifications and assessment. We’re doing this through consistent and responsive engagement with schools. This will ensure our work embraces and represents Scotland’s diverse communities.

We’re hosting virtual and in-person events to co-design our professional learning and engagement strategies. This includes involving teachers in our engagement activities for qualifications reform.

Meet the Team

Leading the team is Headteacher Sarah Brown. She brings 15 years of senior leadership experience, deep insight from schools and a passion for learner centred change.

From the end of April 2026, the team welcomes four experienced teachers who have been seconded as Qualifications Engagement Practitioners to further strengthen our links with schools. They will work alongside colleagues from across the organisation who bring experience in qualifications, assessment and insight from schools.

Our partnership team has one clear focus: to put learners and their teachers at the heart of everything we do. By partnering with schools, we are not just redesigning qualifications – we’re opening doors for deeper involvement in transforming our organisation.
