Plumbing and Heating

Plumbing and Heating

The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Plumbing and Heating at SCQF level 7 allows candidates to demonstrate their competence in job-related skills in their area of work and expertise.

This qualification covers areas such as installing, testing, servicing, maintaining, inspecting, pre-commissioning, commissioning and decommissioning domestic plumbing and heating systems.

This qualification has been designed in partnership/jointly awarded with the SNIJIB (Scottish and Northern Ireland Joint Industry Board) to ensure relevance to the sector.

SVQs are based on National Occupational Standards (NOS). SQA works in partnership with other organisations to ensure that NOS are relevant to the current and future needs of Scottish industries.

This qualification is available through employers and training providers.

Why deliver this qualification

Holders of this SVQ will gain an internationally-recognised qualification that guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.

  • full-time
  • part-time (eg day-release)
  • open and distance learning
