PDA Sport Educator Tutoring SCQF level 7

Professional Development Awards (PDAs) extend or broaden professional or vocational skills and are linked to National Occupational Standards (NOS). The PDA in Sport Educator Tutoring at SCQF level 7 covers areas such as preparing to support learning; facilitating, enabling and evaluating learning; and sports education in Scotland.

This qualification is available through Scottish sports national governing bodies and Sportscotland.

The PDA in Sport Educator Tutoring at SCQF level 7 has been developed in partnership with Scottish sports national governing bodies and Sportscotland, ensuring it is suitable for the current sector.

This qualification will help employers meet skills gaps and provide continuing professional development (CPD) for staff, while learners will gain knowledge and skills needed for progression in the workplace. The award can underpin a number of other awards delivered by sports governing bodies.

This qualification is intended for individuals who work in sports education tutoring within a sports national governing body.

The qualification recognises the competence, skills and knowledge required for those who tutor within a sporting context.

This award will enhance the skills of learners who may already hold UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) qualifications, and will be a valuable component of their CPD.

Entry is at the discretion of the centre.

Learners do not need to have formal relevant qualifications to enter this PDA.

Good communication skills, both oral and written, are required.

The units that make up the PDA have been mapped against the NOS for Learning and Development.

Learners would have the opportunity of progressing to other PDAs, which could in turn allow them to progress to a full HN qualification in Coaching and Developing Sport, HN Sport and Recreation Management, and HN Fitness Health and Exercise.
