Modern Language Speaker role information
A Modern Language Speaker is responsible for providing clear spoken version of a language for Qualifications Scotland assessments.
The activity will be under the direction of colleagues from our Qualifications business directorate.
Outline of duties
- Provide a clear spoken version of a supplied script for assessment in your native language
- Provide the recording in accordance with Qualifications Scotland timescales
- Maintain confidentiality of assessment materials
Selection Criteria
Essential characteristics
Successful candidates must:
- Be a native speaker of the language and fluent in English
- Not be a current secondary school teacher
- Be able to demonstrate excellent grammatical knowledge in the subject language and English
- Have a knowledge of the culture of the country/countries in which the language is used
- Have a home computer or laptop with broadband internet connection and a private e-mail address
- Must have a Permanent NI Number
- Be able to provide an electronic sample of their voice
Key Performance Measures for Modern Language Speaker
Each year, on completion of the duties outlined in the Modern Language Speaker contract specification, the Modern Language Speaker will be measured against the following key performance measures and informed of the outcome in relation to their performance in that year.
- Provide materials for external assessment in accordance with Qualifications Scotland policy and instruction.
- Complete duties as per events calendar.
- Positive engagement with all colleagues.
