NPA Social Software SCQF level 4

This National Progression Award (NPA) introduces learners to:

  • weblogging (‘blogs’) and social media techniques
  • using online tools safely

It develops:

  • knowledge and understanding of social software used for communicating
  • practical, technical, and transferable skills in using digital technologies appropriately and safely
  • ability to evaluate digital materials
  • digital citizenship

and

  • provides bite-sized chunks of learning that are straightforward for centres to adopt and for learners to study
  • enables employees to gain new skills quickly and cost effectively
  • provides centres with opportunities to work in partnership with employers/other centres

This qualification is available through schools, colleges, and training providers.

NPAs can be delivered flexibly over one or more years.

Mandatory units are: J5V4 44 Internet Safety, J6BA 44 Social Media Literacy and J5V6 45 Weblogs

Assessment will be a combination of practical and knowledge assessments under closed- and open-book assessment conditions. See the assessment and evidence requirements for each unit.

Access

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners may benefit from having basic IT skills.

Employment and progression

You could use this level 4 award to progress to:

  • study at SCQF level 5
  • an NC in Computing or a related area
  • a Foundation Apprenticeship in the digital sector
  • employment in a wide range of sectors
