Why deliver this qualification

The SVQ in Post Press at SCQF level 5 is a re-accreditation of the SVQ 2 in Mechanised Print Finishing and Binding (G8YD 22).

Learners will gain an internationally recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.  Employers will also benefit from their employees being proficient.

As assessment is carried out in the workplace this minimises any time learners would need to be away from their work.

Learners can progress to a range of qualifications including the SVQ 3s in Press and Post Press, both at SCQF level 6.

The SVQ can be offered in any of the following modes:

  • full-time
  • part-time (eg day-release)

Who does this qualification suit

This SVQ is suitable for:

  •  individuals who are currently in employment and who wish to obtain a formal qualification

Entry is at the discretion of the centre.

Learners should be in a job or placement where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow then to gather the required evidence.

No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification, although experience in/knowledge of the subject would be an advantage.

The SVQ 2 could provide progression to:

  • an SVQ 3 in Post Press at SCQF level 6
  • an SVQ 3 in Press at SCQF level 6
  • Level 3 SVQs for the wider print sector at SCQF level 6
  • an HNC/HND in Creative Printmaking or a related area
