NPA Digital Media SCQF levels 4, 5 and 6

The NPAs in Digital Media at SCQF levels 4, 5 and 6 introduce learners to techniques that are important in the digital media sector, such as audio, still images and moving images. In addition to developing knowledge and understanding of digital media, learners will develop practical, technical and transferable skills - including oral, written and evaluation abilities.

The NPAs in Digital Media qualifications are revisions of NPA Digital Media Basics, NPA Digital Media Editing and NPA Digital Media Production.

Qualification structure

The NPA Digital Media at SCQF level 4 consists of three mandatory units (18 SCQF credit points).

How to assess

Assessment will be a combination of practical and knowledge assessments under closed-book and open-book assessment conditions. See the assessment and evidence requirements for each unit.

Why study this qualification

The NPAs in Digital Media at SCQF levels 4, 5 and 6 are suitable for:

  • learners wishing to develop and enhance their digital media skills to support their learning across a wide range of curricular areas
  • senior school pupils who will undertake one of the qualifications as a broadening of the Computing Science curriculum
  • students at colleges who will be using the NPAs within full or part-time college programmes
  • adults returning to education with an interest in developing digital media skills in order to access a career in this field

These qualifications are also suitable for broadening the curriculum in the senior phase of school by providing all pupils, not just those with a vocational interest in computer science, with the experience of a contemporary technological subject and the opportunity to gain skills that can be used in future employment.

Access

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners would benefit from having attained the skills, knowledge and understanding required by one or more of the following (or equivalent qualifications and/or experience):

  • any one of the component units, done on a free-standing basis
  • National 2 Information and Communications Technology
  • National 3/4/5/6 Computing Science
