Assessment Validator - Technical

An Assessment Validator (AV) is responsible for carrying out a final independent subject-specialist check to ensure the course assessment is of the correct standard and fit for purpose. This work must be undertaken independently within the conditions, timescales and arrangements set by SQA, maintaining the security of the assessment materials at all times.

These activities will be under the direction of the Principal Assessor and staff from SQA’s Qualifications Development directorate. The duties will be undertaken in the AVs own time.

Key Performance Measures for Assessment Validator - Technical

Each year, on completion of the duties outlined in the AV contract specification, the AV will be measured against the following Key Performance Measures (KPMs) and informed by exception if their KPMs are not met. KPMs are as follows:

  1. Independently, quality assure the external assessment.
  2. Meet timelines and follow all SQA policy and instruction.
  3. Prepare and submit an AV checklist on completion of the process, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for amendments to the assessment where appropriate.
  4. Engage in a professional manner with SQA staff.
