PDA Internal Verification of Workplace Assessment SCQF level 8

Professional Development Awards (PDAs) extend or broaden professional or vocational skills and are linked to National Occupational Standards.

The Professional Development Award (PDA) in Internal Verification of Workplace Assessment at SCQF level 8 will develop knowledge and skills in monitoring assessment processes and decisions within an organisation, and in helping to maintain and improve the quality of workplace assessment. The internal quality assurance process being conducted by the verifier-candidate can be for work-based qualifications or in-company standards.

This qualification is available through training providers and some employers.

The PDA in Internal Verification of Workplace Assessment at SCQF level 8 has been developed in partnership with employers and industry.

It is regarded as an appropriate qualification for workplace internal verifiers.

The PDA in Internal Verification of Workplace Assessment suits those who monitor assessment processes and decisions in an organisation, and help to maintain and improve the quality of workplace assessment.

Access

Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, the verifier-candidate must have a job role that includes monitoring assessment processes and decisions in an organisation and helping to maintain and improve the quality of workplace assessment.

The unit in the PDA has been mapped against the Learning and Development National Occupational Standard L&D11 Internally Monitor and Maintain the Quality of Workplace Assessment.

Learners would have the potential, if in a suitable job role, to undertake the Diploma in Learning and Development at SCQF level 8 or 9.

Centres with devolved authority for approval should use their own internal approval process.

Centres without devolved authority require to come forward for approval and should contact SQA’s Business Development Team for guidance.

Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA’s general requirements for technical / occupational competence as outlined in the Systems and Qualification Approval Guide

The unit specification gives detailed information on the evidence requirements and approaches to assessment for the unit.

Knowledge requirements will be assessed by a professional discussion with the verifier-candidate's assessor, answering questions (written or oral), verifier-candidate statement or a combination of these. Performance evidence of monitoring and maintaining the quality of assessment will also be required.

The verifier-candidate's performance must be observed. Simulation of verification practice is not allowed.

Structure

The PDA in Internal Verification of Workplace Assessment at SCQF level 8 consists of one mandatory unit: Internally Monitor and Maintain the Quality of Workplace Assessment (J45B 48)
