SVQ Logistics Operations SCQF level 7
The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Logistics Operations at SCQF level 7 allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job-related skills within their area of work and expertise.
The mandatory units in this qualification cover key areas within this industry, such as promoting and monitoring health, safety and security, and developing and sustaining working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
The optional units provide scope to specialise in logistics operations and develop a breadth of cross-functional skills that can be used across the sector. These include managing the use of resources, improving the performance of logistics operations and monitoring the flow of supplies in the supply chain.
SVQs are based on National Occupational Standards (NOS). Qualifications Scotland works in partnership with other organisations to ensure that NOS are relevant to the current and future needs of Scottish industries.

Why deliver this qualification
Learners will gain an internationally-recognised qualification that confirms they have demonstrated the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully. Employers will also benefit from having a proficient workforce.
Assessment is carried out in the workplace. This minimises the amount of time learners need to be away from their work.
Completing this qualification allows candidates to progress to more advanced levels within the SCQF.
The SVQ can be offered in any of the following modes:
- full-time
- part-time (for example, day-release)
Who does this qualification suit
This SVQ is suitable for:
- individuals who are currently in employment and who wish to obtain a formal qualification
- employees who wish to undertake continuing professional development
Access
Entry is at the discretion of the centre.
Candidates should be in a job or placement where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities that allow them to gather the required evidence.
No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification, although experience in, or a knowledge of, the subject would be an advantage.
Progression
The level 7 award could provide progression to:
- an HNC/HND in Supply Chain Management or a related area
- degree-level study at a higher education institution
- employment in a wide range of sectors
Approval
Centres with devolved authority for approval should use their own internal approval process.
Centres without devolved authority are required to come forward for approval and should contact SQA's Business Development Team for guidance.
Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA's general requirements for technical/occupational competence as outlined in the Systems and Qualification Approval Guide.
