The information you have requested for the years 2017 – 2020 is published on SQA’s website and can be accessed Statistics Archive.  Select the year required from the drop down menu.   From the Annual Statistical Report select the level of qualification required.   Table 6c lists the Grade As per learner for that year.

Similar information for 2021 will be published in February 2022 as per the Statistical Publication Schedule.   This will be based on the December attainment figures which will include any changes to grades as a result of the appeals process.   However based on the August attainment figures I can confirm that 5,164 candidates (7.8%) attained 5 A grades at Higher.
